Maria Tsakiri is a Professor at the School of Rural, Surveying and Geoinformatics Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), with academic expertise in the field of Geodesy. She holds a Diploma in Surveying Engineering from NTUA and a PhD from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom. She has previously served as a faculty member at Curtin University of Technology in Australia, where she became the first female academic appointed in the discipline of Geodesy.Since 2024, she has held the position of Dean of the School and is actively engaged in initiatives that promote gender equality in higher education. Her research interests cover a wide range in satellite geodesy, including precise positioning techniques, GNSS data processing algorithms, geodetic networks, and quality assurance methods, with particular emphasis on multi-GNSS and DORIS technologies. In parallel, she is involved in the study and evaluation of advanced three-dimensional surveying. She has served as Principal Investigator in several nationally and internationally funded research projects and has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals and conference proceedings. Her teaching activities span multiple areas of geodesy and surveying, and she has supervised a significant number of diploma and doctoral theses.
